Judith"Judy"(Klibert) Cancienne

Judith ("Judy") Klibert Cancienne passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at her home following her courageous 10-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Judy was born on July 8, 1939, in Reserve, La., to Elmore and Eugenie Klibert. She has been a resident of Baton Rouge for 52 years and an active member of St. Aloysius parish for 43 years. She was married to Robert ("Bob") Aloysius Cancienne for 54 wonderful years. Judy lived her faith and was actively involved in many roles including Eucharistic minister, marriage preparation facilitator, and CCD instructor, along with her husband Bob. She and her late husband Bob were volunteers at Mary Bird Cancer Center both before and during their treatment for cancer and receive the Mary Bird Perkins 2011 Volunteers of the Year award. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob. Judy is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Thibodeaux and husband Kerry, Kenneth Cancienne and his wife Sarah, and Catherine Miller and her husband Bill, and her four grandchildren, Alyson and Lauren Cancienne, Sam Miller, and Andrew Thibodeaux. She is also survived by her three sisters, Mary Singler and her late husband Xavier, Gilda Lasseigne and her husband Albert, and Patty Clement and her husband Guy. She also has numerous nieces and nephews who she thought of and loved as her own. Judy always said she lived a blessed life, that the good Lord surrounded her with angels who embraced her with love, caring, and prayers. If you are reading this, you are probably one of those and Judy and her family thank you. Judy's faith and strength have been an inspiration to all whom she has met and all have been better for having met her. Her family would like to invite you to celebrate her life and journey to meet the Lord and the love of her life, Bob. A wake will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, on Wednesday, August 20, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Thursday, August 21, visitation will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church on 2025 Stuart Avenue, Baton Rouge, at 9:30 AM, followed by a full mass at St. Aloysius at 11:00 AM and subsequent burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. The family requests donations be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or Cancer Services of Baton Rouge in lieu of flowers.
