"Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28. Judith (Judy) Mut Maranto, age 76, of Baton Rouge, went to her heavenly home on January 1st, 2021. She was born August 24th, 1944, in Baton Rouge, La. She was a graduate of Istrouma High School, class of 1963, and went on to become a licensed cosmetologist. Judy was an active member of the Louisiana Ladies Auxiliary Association for the Knights of Columbus, where she held numerous offices including the office of State Vice President from 2006-2007. Though small in stature, Judy had a tenacious personality and was never afraid of a challenge. She could hitch a trailer, sew a costume, and much to her grand children's delight, win any arcade game with a prize involved. Judy was a devoted employee and worked with her son, Dennis, as a bookkeeper for 19 years. An avid card player, she passed many hours playing cards with her parents and uncles. Though she had many hobbies and talents, her two greatest joys were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and bowling. Judy bowled for 30+ years at Metro Bowl and Circle Bowl. At one time, she bowled 8 leagues a week and helped run the Saturday Night No Tap at Metro Bowl. She was also Secretary/Treasurer of the Just For Fun League for 10 years. Her high average score was 169 and her highest game score was 269. She served as the Sargent at Arms for the NFL League for the past 20 years and was affectionately known by her bowling alley family as "Smurf". Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Maud Landry Mut, and brother in law, Ronald Stott. Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Phillip, her three sons; Bryan Maranto and wife Amanda, Dennis Maranto and wife Angela, Chris Maranto, and wife Tracy. Grandchildren Anna Price, and Husband Hooper, Nathan, Justin, Jacob and wife Kaitlyn, Stephen, Emily, Joshua, Rebekah, Hudson, Sarah, Luke and Abigail Maranto. Great-grandchildren Gentry, Maerin, and Bond Price. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine Stott, and Brother Lester Mut and husband Joe. She leaves many other extended family members and friends who will sadly miss her. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
