In loving memory, Joseph Sidney Trahan,
a native of Baton Rouge, passed away July 22, 2012
on the Sabbath Day, from health complications following
a stroke in 2011. He was residing in Plaquemine,
Louisiana, at a residential nursing home. He was 64
years young, born on January 25th, 1947, and
a Systems Operator at St. Gabriel General Equipment,
and a retired Army National Guardsman during the
Vietnam Era. He married Rita Diane Trahan, and he became step-father to Shad Lawson, her son. Shortly after,
he was ordained in 1983 and served Our Lord for 29 years.
"Brother Sid" was preceded in death by
Minnie and Father Joseph Trahan, and brother, Russell
Trahan. Remaining survivors are his brother's wife,
Jeanett Trahan, eldest niece Dana Trahan, also
nieces Christine Thibodaux, Jeanne Couvillion. He
was a devoted church member and Father-like
figure to many at First Baptist Church of Plaquemine.
His presence will be missed greatly as a spiritual advisor.
The wake will be held from 8AM-9AM for the family,
and 9AM-12PM for the public, at First Baptist
Church of Plaquemine, Louisiana, on Wednesday, July 25th, 2012.
A lunch gathering will be held at noon in the fellowship
hall, on the premises, and at 1PM the funeral will be held
in the church. After the funeral, the interrment will be
in Baton Rouge at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and
Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge,
LA, 70816. In lieu of flowers, donations would be
accepted for the AWANA Ministries at FBC of Plaquemine.
Pallbearers will be William Satterwhite, Hilton Guidry,
James Terry, Sean Champaigne, Dylan Whitney, and Travis Whitney. A Special thank you to Pastor Keith Horton, Belinda
Buquoi, Phoebe Terry, Dylan Whitney, and Travis Whitney,
for all of the loving support.
