Joseph Emmett Jarreau, resident of Central, passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge at the age of 87. He was born on Sept. 3, 1927 in Jarreau, LA, growing up near False River which was one of his favorite places as a child to spend time and go swimming. Emmett served in the US Army and was in the Military Police in Japan after WWII, and retired as a Sergeant. He was a lifelong truck driver, working in different industries working on and driving trucks. Emmett began his career driving a Model A ice truck driving a route from New Roads to Baton Rouge. Emmett loved driving trucks and would drive cross-country often. After marrying, he wanted to stay closer to home so he bought his own gravel truck and went to work for Rebel Sand and Gravel in Livingston Parish. Emmett was hardworking and proud of his work; always making sure his truck was clean and working well. Emmett had a great sense of humor, and he loved his family tremendously. He will be missed dearly by his wife of 49 years, Patsy Jarreau; children, Corliss Leuthauser and husband Ted, Jerry Jarreau, and Eric Anderson and wife Jan; grandchildren, Allyson Council and Travis Leuthauser; great grandchildren, Zachary Brewer, Conner Council, and Victoria Council; great great grandchildren, Jacee and Jordan Brewer; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special pet, Ringo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Leopold “Ninice” Jarreau; and siblings, Pearl, Effie, Birdie, Lula, Allie, Avenor, Cecil, Bruce and Lee. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 from 12:00 PM until the Funeral Service begins at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Darrell Jarreau, Jeff Jarreau, Travis Leuthauser, Eric Anderson, Buddy Valentine and Gary Dunkan. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Bertelot, Cecil Jarreau Jr., and Billy Kelly.
