Joseph “Joe” Vincent Heuvel, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Friday July 13, 2018 at the age of 84. Joe was a 1952 graduate of Catholic High School, where he played football. Joe served in the US Army and the US Air Force. He was in the printing business for 40 years. Joe is survived by his wife of 44 years Deloris Cavanaugh Cotten Heuvel, his sister Mary Heuvel Harbourt and husband Oscar, sister-in-laws Adele Heuvel and Freddy Heuvel, his step-son Danny Cotten and wife Roxanne, his step-daughter Donna Cotten Causey and husband Steve, his daughter-in-law Cynthia Cotten, his grandchildren April Cotten Dozier, Beau Cotten, Tracie Cotten Carroll, Kacie Causey, and Hunter Causey, along with 11 precious great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John Henry Heuvel and Johanna Schuurmans Heuvel, his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Heuvel Levasseur, his brothers Leo Joseph Heuvel and John Joseph Heuvel, his step-son Rodney Cotten, and grandson Allan Joseph Cotten. Joe enjoyed his family and friends, boating, camping, attending car shows, and his 1987 El Camino. Visitation will take place on Monday July 16, 2018 at 8:00am till 10:00am at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Rosary will take place at 10:00am with the service immediately following with Dennis McAnally, of Zoar Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Beau Cotten, Hunter Causey, Ray Richard, Terry Levasseur, Martin Dozier, Steve Causey with Honorary Pallbearers Leonard Sicard and Mark Chambers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joe’s favorite organization, St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice facility.
