Joseph “Earl” Babin died peacefully in his sleep on March 1, 2022. He had Alzheimers and had gradually slipped away over the last few years. He was 78 years old. Earl was born July 22, 1943, in White Castle, Louisiana. He lived with his mother and her parents in Bayou Goula, Louisiana, while his father was with the army in Europe during WWII. The rest of his life was spent in Baton Rouge.
He graduated from Catholic High and LSU. He was married to Sharon Braud for 54 years. They raised two children, Jennifer and Jeffrey. Earl was in the grocery business his whole life and retired from Associated Grocers. He was a faithful and active member of St. George Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Jennifer Green and her husband Spencer, and their son Cole; and his son Jeffrey’s family, Theresa Freshour, and her daughters, Angela Creekmore and Peighton Freshour; sister, Patricia McBride; and brother, Wayne Babin. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.
Earl was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey; his parents, Earl and Gertrude Babin; and his brother, James “Jimmy” Babin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. George Catholic Church on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 3 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
