Jewell Anthony Garon, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on November 6, 2015 at the age of 91. He was born on April 1, 1924 in Baton Rouge to parents Josh and Cecile Garon. He was an alumni of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge. A veteran of WWII, he served in the US Navy for 3 ½ years. He served on the USS Fomalhaut in the Pacific. He graduated from the Baton Rouge trade school in air conditioning, and owned and operated Garon's Heating and Air Conditioning for 20 years, and was since retired. He was a member of the Refrigerator Service Engineers Society (RSES) for 20 years and was President for 1 year of RSES Region 10 that represented Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico. He was a devoted member of Saint George Parish for many years and was also a member of the Parish Council. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rita Garon; 5 children, Marilyn Miller and husband James W. Miller Jr., Ronald Garon, Charles Garon and wife Vicki, Linda Davis, Elaine Hopkins and husband Dean; 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josh and Cecile Garon. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking, and entertaining. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving wife and children. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. George Catholic Church in Baton Rouge. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area, 3772 N Blvd Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
