Ray and Jeri Woodson passed away on Friday, October 3, 2024. They were both 70 years old. Raymond S. Woodson, Jr. was born October 6, 1953, in Champaign-Urbana, IL, to Raymond and Dorothy. He attended Bluefield State in West Virginia. Jerilyn Montgomery was born December 9, 1953, in Mt. Home, ID, to Gerald and Mary. She attended Louisiana College and LSU. The pair met in London, England, and ultimately settled in Baton Rouge, LA. Ray became a Vocational Rehabilitator and Evaluator for the Louisiana Department of Social Services. Jeri worked in education as a special education teacher, and then as a school librarian. During her time in the classroom, Jeri was named Louisiana Teacher of the Year. Ray and Jeri are survived by their daughter, Mary Beth, of Lawrence, KS. Ray is survived by two brothers, Preston and Neil. Jeri is survived by her father, Gerald; and brothers, Malcolm and Gary. A memorial gathering for both will take place at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 3pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the East Baton Rouge Parish Library or ASPCA are appreciated.
