

Janice Silver, a lifelong Baton Rouge resident, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2023 at the age of 96. She was born on March 15, 1927. Janice graduated from Baton Rouge High School and attended Baton Rouge Business College. She was employed by Exxon as a key-punch operator where she met and then married a wonderful man – Walter H. Silver. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to read, travel, and listen to opera and classical music. In her later years, she lived at St. James Place, first in independent living and then eventually in nursing care.
Janice was a member of BRAVO, LambaLums, Patrons of the LSU Opera and 508PIR Family & Friends.
Preceded in death by her parents Nannie Williams Cox and T.W. Cox, and her husband Walter H. Silver. She is survived by her daughter Karen Silver Holton and granddaughters Karie Holton of Baton Rouge and Melanie Holton Bates (Dylan) of Zachary.
Thanks to all of her St. James Place caregivers and staff for many enjoyable years. Special thanks to her Hospice of Baton Rouge care team over this past year, especially to nurse Suzie.

Graveside service will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 10 am.
