Beloved father, grandfather and brother, Jeb died peacefully at the Louisiana War Veterans Home, Jackson, Friday morning, Oct. 29, 2010. He was 82, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and a 1947 graduate of Baton Rouge High School. Jeb was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Early in his business career, he was a successful service station owner, building contractor and real estate agent. Eventually, he opened the Iron Pot Restaurant in Baton Rouge, which he operated during the 1970s and 1980s. Later, he built and opened the Iron Pot Restaurant in Satsuma, from which he retired in 1998. He is survived by a son, James Ewell Brown Stuart Jr., of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Laura Stuart Breaux and husband Sam, of Lake Charles, Ann Stuart Cascio, Nancy C. Stuart and Molly Stuart Addison and husband Lawrence, all of Baton Rouge; seven grandchildren, Joseph A. Cascio, April C. Cascio, Melissa A. Cascio, Thomas P. Breaux, Anya R. Stuart, Richard A. Addison and Rebecca E. Addison; three sisters, Winifred Stuart Williamson, Clara Stuart Andersen and husband Paul, and Peggy Stuart, all of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Walter B. Stuart III and wife Rita, of Pensacola, Fla., and Robert M. Stuart and wife Dotty, of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Betty Stuart, of Baton Rouge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Sullivan Stuart; parents, Walter Bynum Stuart Jr. and Rosa Gauthreaux Stuart; brother, John A. Stuart; son-in-law, Joseph D. Cascio; brother-in-law, Sanchez A. Williamson; nephew, D. Kleinpeter Stuart; and niece, Katherine Stuart Hall. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, Nov. 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., Friday, Nov. 5, from 9:30 a.m. until memorial Mass at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Paul A. McDuffie, celebrant. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. For a number of years during Thanksgiving time, Jeb attended Manresa House of Retreats in Convent where he could find quiet and prayerful solitude with the Lord. He had little regard for material concerns and demonstrated instant generosity for those in need.
