James Edgar Short Jr.

JAMES EDGAR “JIMMY” SHORT, JR. passed away from this life on August 30, 2023, at the age of 66. A Prairieville, LA resident, and a former longtime resident of Destin, FL, Jimmy was born on September 16, 1956, in Jefferson County, AL to James E. Short, Sr. and Virginia Wood Short. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Short, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patricia Clancy Short of Prairieville, LA; his mother, Virginia Wood Short, Shalimar, FL; his sister, Karen Isbell, of Panama City Beach, FL; niece, Lauren Isbell; nephew, Austin Isbell; four step-children, Jessica Gulley (Griff) of Hot Springs, AR; Robbie Banta of New Orleans, LA; Webb L. Harelson, III of Baton Rouge; and Maggie Harelson of Gonzales, LA; five grandchildren, Griffin, Ella, Webb, IV, Maida, Jayce. Jimmy moved to the Florida area with his parents and affectionately called Florida “my home”. He worked in the car business with his father for many years until his move to the Baton Rouge/Prairieville area in 2000. He loved gardening, any activity outdoors, and cherished the time he spent with family and friends.

A private memorial will be set up with family after which Jimmy’s remains will be scattered about at “his home”, Destin, FL.
