James A. “Jim” Glass passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at the age of 75. Jim was born October 19, 1938 in Chilton County, Alabama. He graduated from Hueytown High School, Class of 1957. Following high school, Jim joined the US Navy in 1959 where he proudly served his country and traveled the world for four years. He received extensive training as an electrician and draftsman during his time in the Navy. Jim was a resident of Walker, Louisiana for more than 40 years and worked for Kaiser Aluminum as an electrician and electrical supervisor, at both Baton Rouge and Gramercy facilities, for more than 30 years. After his retirement he enjoyed being “Papa” to his grandchildren. Jim also enjoyed spending time at his fishing camp as he was an avid saltwater fisherman and enjoyed sharing that passion with others. He served as a great mentor to his two sons as well as many others and was always willing to help those in need. Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother, Marvin and Pearl Glass; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Doris and Calvin Edmondson. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Sharon; two sons, Anthony and his wife Hollie, and Sean and his wife Donna; grandchildren; Austin, Hannah, Sean “Chief”, Jacob, and Brianna; brother, Herman Glass of Leasburg, Alabama; Toni and Jerry Dugas and numerous other extended family. Pallbearers for the services are Sean “Chief” Madewell, Austin Glass, Jacob Avants, Calvin Edmondson, Kenneth Sanderson, and Jeff Garrett. Visitation will be held Friday December 20, 2013 at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 5PM-8PM. A graveside service will be held Saturday December 21, 2013 at Greenoaks Memorial Park beginning at 12PM.
