Helen was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge until her move to Hoover, when she joined Riverchase United Methodist Church. She graduated from University High School and attended LSU in Baton Rouge.
Her greatest passions were her love for Jesus Christ, her family, and caring for others. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and was an avid reader. Helen was a meticulous home maker and served on the staff of March of Dimes in Baton Rouge for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, O.E. (Gene) Hyde; her parents, Oscar and Bernia Evans; her brother, Lyle Evans; and her sister, Johanna Evans Cox.
She is survived by her brother, John (Diane) Evans of White Castle, LA; sister, Loretta Evans Roberts of Kemah, TX; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Ray) Farabee of Tuscaloosa, AL and Carolyn (Bill) Kirby of Clinton, LA; daughter, Susan (Charlie) White of Hoover, AL; son, Ted (Anne) Hyde of Double Oak, TX; grandchildren, Jill (Jonathan) Murphy, Jason Hyde, Kackie (Chad) Sexton; and great-grandchildren, Connor Murphy, Ansley Murphy, Addisyn Sexton, Sidney Sexton, and Faith Sexton.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Roselawn Memorial Park with Reverend Chris Andrews officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The family would like to thank the staff of Galleria Woods Senior Living Community for their care and support over the last ten years.
