Eric Taylor Carnegie, 38, a proud & devoted father, husband, restaurateur, & festival producer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana left this physical world early Saturday, March 6, 2021.
Baton Rouge lost a true leader in the downtown community and throughout the city. Eric owned and operated several restaurants & bars as well as established two local festivals, Baton Rouge Oyster Festival & Bandito Food & Music Festival. He gave his heart and soul to the city by sharing his passion for good music, good food, and good times. While Eric cannot be summarized in a single column, those who had the privilege of knowing him know there is so much more to him than words can ever describe.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Meaghan Clement Carnegie, and precious children, Ryleigh Nicole & Connor James. He is also survived by his father and mother in law, Michael Jr. & Rhonda Clement, sister-in-law Jordanne Clement Knippers & husband Dayton, sister-in-law Cameron Clement, brother-in-law Caelyn Clement, cousins Dwayne Davis, Amber Knight, Heather Macaluso, & Hope Macaluso; and aunt Theresa Politz Macaluso & husband Philip. Eric is the proud godfather of Olivia Davis & Briggs Webb.
Eric is now standing beside his parents, Jimmy Leon Carnegie & Darlene Politz Carnegie, grandparents Taylor Leon & Hilda Sumrall Carnegie and Guy Lewis & Doris Armstrong Politz.
Pallbearers will be his uncle Philip Macaluso, cousin Dwayne Davis, nephew Owen Davis, brothers-in-law Caelyn Clement & Dayton Knippers, and the men who were more like brothers: Brian Richard, Jesse Brignac, Brannan Webb, Mario Perez, Trey Willard, Scott Emonet, Derek Fitch, Dustin Malina, & Chad Hughes.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 12th at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday, March 13th from 10 a.m. until the service at noon with burial to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. A memorial gathering will be at Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar immediately following the burial.
