Edward Hopkins passed away on August 12, 2021 in Baton Rouge, LA., the day we lost a lyrical mastermind, a vocal angel that gave the devil a run for his money, a man who could articulate his feelings and emotional energy onto pen and paper, add his own rhythm and harmonies and touch souls many generations old. He was a man who was not only a father and grandfather but a teacher of love and happiness even when all there was in the world was anger and sorrow, a man who would give ya’ the shirt off his back even if he needed it more then you, a man that brought sunshine on the cloudiest of days. He wasn’t perfect but he loved with everything he had. The man I call papa and my kids call pawpaw Eggie, the star of the show has gone to be with his mom and sister and daddy up in heaven. He touched the lives of so many with his music and he will be missed by many. He is survived by his sons, Sean and Daniel Hopkins and two daughters, Lacie and Katlin Hopkins. But I ask everyone to fulfill his wishes, and not cry or be sad that he’s gone but to find joy and happiness in the sound of his music that he blessed us with while hear on earth. To celebrate his life and be kind to each other, to forgive the wrongs done to us by others, friends, family, and foe and find inner peace knowing the burden has been lifted from his shoulders, as he sings for the masses in heaven. I love ya dad and will see ya on the other side, love from your youngest son and the dan’l family, gone but never forgotten! A visitation will be Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. located at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
