Edward Joseph Bourgeois, Jr., of Baton Rouge, LA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the age of 90. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School, followed by a 40-year career with Entergy Corporation. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, UCT, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Among his family and friends, he was widely known for his exceptional mechanical and structural knowledge. He was frequently called on in times of need and was quick to solve problems and provide creative solutions. Edward is survived by a son, Kenny Bourgeois (Jan); daughters, Lisa Bourgeois and Renee Smith (Danny); grandchildren, Brad Bourgeois (Robyn), Daniel Bourgeois (Kristen), Kayla Haaf (Joe), and Kelsey Smith; great-grandchildren, Payton, Jacob, Michael, and Charlotte Bourgeois, and Mary Kate, Nathan, and John Luke Haaf. Edward is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marilyn Cassano Bourgeois; his parents, Edward, Sr. and Lena Manuel Bourgeois; his brother, Jimmy; and sisters, Veronica, Dorothy, and Theresa. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 1pm until the Mass of Christian Burial at 2pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
