Cynthia Da’Anne Hunt Lipscomb, known and loved by so many. Daughter and sister, lovingly known as Da’Anne; Moma, to her three children; Aunt Nanny, to her many nieces and nephews; Mrs. Lipscomb, to students and coworkers; and her favorite name of all, Granna, to her precious grandchildren. Da’Anne was born on October 29, 1954, and passed away peacefully at her home in Zachary, LA, on December 21, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family. She was 70 years old and had courageously battled breast cancer for over 14 years with extraordinary strength and grace. Da’Anne dedicated her life to education and family. She touched countless lives during her 43-year career as an educator, including 25 years teaching at Northwestern Elementary School in Zachary. She later retired as principal of La Belle Aire Elementary School in Baton Rouge, leaving behind a legacy of mentorship and inspiration that shaped students and educators alike. After retirement, Da'Anne spent her time proudly serving as a board member of both the Zachary Rotary Club and Manners of the Heart. One of her favorite hobbies was decorating for others, which led to her most recent endeavor, Lipscombs’ Garland and Glam, with her daughter-in-law, Shae. Above all, Da’Anne’s greatest passion was her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she rarely missed an opportunity to support their activities and achievements, no matter how far she had to travel to be there. Whether cheering from the sidelines or celebrating milestones, her unwavering love and devotion were evident in every moment she shared with them.
Da’Anne is survived by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Lipscomb; her children, Gordon Lipscomb (Shae), Jaime Lipscomb Knight (Adam), Natalie Lipscomb Bordelon (Paul); grandchildren: Ty, Jake, and Luke Lipscomb; Kyle and Georgia Knight; Ella, Fitz, Bodhi, and Loui Bordelon; and Cameron Barney (Michael); her siblings Don Hunt (Rosalyn), Jeff Hunt (Sherlyn), Ginger Kent (Mike), Craig Hunt (Darlene), Stacy Denicola (Mike), Brad Hunt (Kathy), and Tara Jones (Matt); and her many nieces and nephews. She also cherished her relationship with Jim’s eldest daughter, Jane Barney (Scott). She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Shirley Hunt; grandson, Blake Barney; niece, Jennifer Hunt, and nephew, D.R. McDavid, who all undoubtedly welcomed her home with love. Da’Anne will be remembered for her kind heart, steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, and her remarkable ability to uplift those around her. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she inspired. Da’Anne will forever be missed but never forgotten, as her love and light continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
