Mr. Charles Paul “Doc” Young, Sr., a resident of Baton Rouge, LA , passed away November 18, 2024, at the age of 85 years old. Mr. Charley was born on January 15,1939 in Centreville, Mississippi to Mr. William Paul & Mrs. Margaret Young. Mr. Charley enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, gardening, and reading and was a sports enthusiast; his favorite teams were LSU and the Phillies. Mr. Charley taught Social Studies at Robert E. Lee High School and was the first athletic trainer at Lee. He dedicated his life to education and retired as the Director of Transfers and School Security of East Baton Rouge. He was also a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Hutto Young; daughter, Margaret Y. “Christi “ Compton and husband Terry; son , Charles Paul Young Jr. and wife, Jene ; grandchildren ; Stephen P. Villavaso and wife , Emily; Lauren Y. Watson and husband, Kenny; Shelbey Young; step grandchildren, John Compton and wife Gabby; Alise and Brock Burgess ; six great- grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers in law. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Young and Margaret Young Tumey. Pallbearers will be Stephen Villavaso, Thomas Ballard, Jason Hanks, Kenny Watson, Roger Hutto and Brock Burgess. Honorary pallbearers are, Tyler Stockwell, Bob Carles, and John Compton. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA., on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mr. Charles’ name to the Methodist Children’s Home of Southeast LA. Or Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
