“The time has come, the Walrus said….”. Charles Neilson Malone passed away peacefully, in the presence of his wife, on July 30, 2023. He was born June 16, 1940 in Baton Rouge to Wex Smathers Malone and Helen Jeffress Malone. He graduated from University High in 1958, attended Sewanee his freshman year and graduated from LSU in January 1963. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served during the Vietnam Era. He attended LSU Law School, graduating in 1969. On June 29, 1968 he married Margaret Brenda Frazar of Lake Charles. He and Brenda had 2 daughters: Margaret Ann Malone Copsinis (Steve) and Neilson Charles Malone. They have two granddaughters: Lily Jura Malone Warlen and Wesley Margaret Warlen. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Helen Malone Urban. He began his law career with Clay Pierce, practicing together for “20 years to the day” and then had a bankruptcy practice for the next 25 years. Charlie lived a full and active life; he was a runner and bicyclist; enjoyed canoeing and kayaking and riding his E-bike, and he rode his ATV in the hills of St. Francisville. He was the best Good Man his wife knew. “Dad” took his family on many camping, bicycling and canoeing trips over the years and, more recently, he and Brenda enjoyed six walking trips to Spain (Camino de Santiago), England (Hadrian’s Wall), Wales (Pembrokeshire Coastal Trail) and most recently Ireland (The Dingle Way). He will be missed daily by Brenda and his daughters and granddaughters. All who knew Charlie will be blessed with happy memories. “Don’t be sad that he is gone, be happy that he was.” Service will be held Thursday, August 3rd at Trinity Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, at the corner of Morning Glory and Stanford, beginning at 2 pm, with a reception to follow.
