Cece was born Cecelia Ann Calabrese, on October 13, 1935, in Clarksburg, WV, and she was a 1955 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV. She married Wayne C. Buckner on April 26, 1958. After raising a family of three children, Cece and Wayne moved the family to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1972.
This beautiful woman never met a stranger, and once you met her, you never forgot her. Those that knew her, know exactly what that means. Her laughter and “Cece-isms” will be missed by all.
Cece is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Ernestine Calabrese. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Wayne; her daughter, Kim Kron and husband, Warren; daughter, Connie Buckner; and son, Alfred “Al” Buckner and wife, Yvette. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Warren, Jr., Chauntel, Shannon, Stephen, Mariah, Michael, Brittney and Cole; nine great-grandchildren, David, Tyler, Alyssa, Jacob, Joshua, Leo, Ruby, Elijah & CJ; and one great, great grandchild, Corinne. She is also survived by her siblings, Rocco “Rocky” Calabrese (Connie), Joan Bush, Thomas “Tommy” Calabrese and Debbie Tignor (Carl) all of WV, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a mountain of friends and extended family.
Cece made the decision long ago to donate her body to science. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home-East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 11:00 am, with service from 12:00 - 1:00 pm.
