Carolyn Easterly Simon, 77, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, surrounded by her family at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City following a brief illness. The longtime co-proprietor of Baton Rouge Blue Print&Supply Co. with her husband, George, was a native of Watson and a resident of Baton Rouge. She and her husband were also co-proprietors of Carolyn's, purveyors of fine antique silver and jewelry. Born Aug. 28, 1932, she was a graduate of Live Oak High School, served as an assistant to Gov. Earl K. Long, and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by her parents, Alton S. and Evie Peak Easterly; sister, Annette E. Kinchen; and brother, Alton S. Easterly Jr. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George M. Simon Jr.; son, George M. "Pal" Simon III, and his fiancée, Jamie Mixon; brother-in-law, B. Leon Kinchen Jr.; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their progeny. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Friday, May 28, was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visiting resumes Saturday, May 29, from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Tommy R. Bergeron Sr. followed by burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be A. Shelby Easterly III, John W. Easterly Sr., Tom S. Easterly, John W. Easterly Jr., Robert A. Ours and Michael K. Dantin. Honorary pallbearers are B. Leon Kinchen Jr. and J.W. Cole. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospitalor a charity of choice.
