Carolyn Lantz passed away on July 10, 2022. She was born at the home of her grandparents, Lillian and Percy Tillery, in Montpelier, LA on November 24, 1931. The family moved to Baton Rouge in 1937. Carolyn graduated from Istrouma High School and LSU where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She received a degree in elementary education and began her teaching career at Brookstown Elementary School. She left teaching to raise her family and then returned to teach first grade at St. James Episcopal Day School for 20 years. Her retirement years were filled with many enjoyable activities. Travel was something that she and her husband always loved and they enjoyed many wonderful trips, often with friends and family. She was an accomplished watercolor artist and member of the Art Guild of Louisiana. She was an avid bridge player and also enjoyed reading, puzzles and volunteer work. She was an enthusiastic and dedicated LSU sports fan. However, her happiest times were those spent with her family. She cherished time with grandsons Reece and Austin Lantz. She was a long time member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church and the Seekers Sunday School Class, where she made many lasting friendships. The past few years were spent enjoying new friends and activities at Williamsburg Senior Living Community. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne Lantz and Matthew Tobin; and her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Melissa Brewer Lantz and grandsons Reece and Austin Lantz. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Hilry Lantz, and her parents Lillian Matthews Tillery and Collins Tillery. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to her special group of private caregivers, especially Kristy, Myra and Gloria. Services will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 9:00 am.
