“That at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow…and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:10-11. Carl Nash Williams went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, while at home, surrounded by his children and grandchildren on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Carl was blessed with 96 years, which were devoted to the Lord, his family, and his country. He enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Dot, singing in his church choir, and growing fruits, vegetables, and an abundance of plants in his garden. Carl was born July 18, 1927, in Gonzales, LA. After graduating from Gonzales High School, he attended Baton Rouge Business School. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Virginia Miller, in 1949, at a dance at the Playcation Club in Baton Rouge. They married a year later on August 11, 1950, and enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage until Dot’s passing in 2012. Shortly after their marriage, Carl served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. Once home from war, he and Dot had three sons: Carl Allen, Timmy, and Ross. He went on to work for the United States Postal Service for over 35 years and Hancock Bank for 10 years. Throughout his life, he volunteered as gardener for St. Paul’s Methodist Church, where he was a longtime member, later joining First Baptist Church Zachary. Upon retirement, he began volunteering as a tour guide at Bluebonnet Swamp. Carl will be remembered for his storytelling, dance lessons, quick-wit, and love of nature. He is survived by his three sons, Carl Allen and wife, Karen, Timothy Dale and wife, Deborah, and Ross Scott; grandchildren, Dustin and Andrea, Kevin and Nicole, Leslie, Jennifer and Jonathan, and Heather and Tristan; great-grandchildren, Marley, Kensley, Taylor, Luke, Jordyn, Kambrie, Kalem, Audra, Ryder, Garrison, Mathias, Ellianne, Verity, and Colette; sister, Zemly; and brother’ Gene. Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Dot; parents Grant and Lula; five brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, October 26, from 4pm to 7pm and will resume at Greenoaks on Friday, October 27, 8:30am until the funeral service at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Faithful United Methodist Church Cemetery, 14253 Hwy. 431, St. Amant, LA. Pallbearers will be Carl’s seven grandsons, nephews, Ray and Andy Williams, and as honorary pallbearer, his brother, Gene.
