Beverly Cutrer Turner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at age 93 on March 21, 2024, in Zachary, Louisiana. She was born in Jackson, Louisiana and resided in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for her entire life. Beverly was the oldest of eight children born to Mennee and James Cutrer. She married Leonard Earl Turner in 1950, and they enjoyed twenty-nine happy years together until his untimely passing. Beverly attended Louisiana State University and was later the supervisor of Data Processing at the Louisiana State Department of Welfare until her retirement in 1986. She was an officer of the Retired State Employees Association, where she served as the state secretary and was also a board member of LARCUP. Beverly served others as an active member in the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of Istrouma Baptist Church and was an active church volunteer.
Family and church were the two most important things in her life. Beverly loved family gatherings, cooking for family, and enjoying her grandchildren. Her gentle and giving nature was appreciated by everyone who knew her. She was known for finding just the right gifts for her grandchildren and showering them with love and attention as they grew up. As the oldest of her siblings, she delighted in visiting relatives and taking day trips to the countryside. She regularly visited her aunts and uncles, enjoying their reminiscences and family news. Beverly was a devout Christian, with a lifelong dedication to her faith in God.
Beverly is survived by her son, Craig Turner (Denise); grandchildren Lauren Cohoon (Cody) and Steven Turner; her great-grandchildren; her sister Addie Julia Hoover and three brothers Wally Cutrer (Wanda), Bob Cutrer (Toni), Gerry Cutrer; and sister-in-law Connie Cutrer. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Leonard Earl Turner; her parents Mary Mennee Bridges Cutrer and James V. Cutrer; brothers James and Ronald Cutrer and her sister Mary Ann Passons.
Beverly’s family would like to thank the caring staff at Oakwood Village Assisted Living in Zachary for providing care and a protected and safe environment for her and the Hospice of Baton Rouge for making her final days calm and peaceful.
