A native of Baton Rouge, he died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at his home in St. Gabriel. He was 79 and a retired supervisor with Kaiser Aluminum Corp. with 30 years of service. Visiting at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, River Road, St. Gabriel, on Tuesday, June 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes at the church on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Tony Russo, celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Beverly Melancon Wright; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Gaye and Victor Sanchez and Mary and Phil Ray; and three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gregory Thomas Wright, Morris Clyde Sr. and Annette Wright, and Charles Andrew "Andy" and Gwen Wright. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Andrew G. Sr. and Thelma Wright; brother, William Gerald "Bill" Wright; beloved daughter-in-law, Mary D. Wright; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Cora Melancon. Serving as pallbearers will be Morris "C.W." Wright Jr., Alex J. White, Michael Sanchez, Kevin A. Sanchez, Andrew Sanchez, Austin Sanchez, Roy Vortisch Jr. and Maurice Broussard. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and also was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Louisiana Cattleman's Association and recipient of its Golden Spur Club Award.
