Virginia Mullins Tyson, age 80, previously of 731 Ferndale Drive, Collinsville, and more recently of Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Martinsville, died Thursday, December 30, 2010, in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born in Franklin County, February 18, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Lee Mullins and Naomi Law Mullins, and was raised in Bassett. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Blaney Frank Tyson, five brothers, three sisters and a step-grandson.
She was retired from DuPont in 1985, after thirty-four years of service, and she was a former member of the Eagles Club. She was of the Baptist faith, and had attended Fort Trial Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Frankie Gayle Tyson Poff and her husband Richard L. Poff of High Point, NC, Lisa Tyson Jones-Pence and her husband Larry D. Pence of Roanoke, a brother, Herman Mullins and his wife Dora, of Midlothian, two grandsons, Cory and Hunter Jones; two step-granddaughters, a step-grandson, five step-great-grandchildren; a favorite niece, Frances Beck; and several other nieces, nephews, cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, in Bassett, with the Rev. J. D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 P.M.
