Mr. James Edward “Eddie” Gilbert, age 80 of Fieldale, VA passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection, Stuart, VA after a decline in health.
Mr. Gilbert was born on February 20, 1942 in Henry County, VA to the late Hoyt Itasus Gilbert and the late Helen Joyce Gilbert. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Smith and a brother, Jerry William Gilbert. He was a graduate of Danville Technical Institute. He was a member of Fieldale Baptist Church. He was retired from DuPont with 37 years of service.
Mr.Gilbert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Lynch Gilbert, two sons, Mark Gilbert and wife, Laura, Dean Gilbert and wife, Revonda, grandchildren, Ashley Pruett, Shane Gilbert and wife, Autumn, Christian Gilbert and wife, Makayla, Ethan Gilbert and wife, Amanda, great grandson, Connor Gilbert, one brother, Hoyt Douglas Gilbert and wife, JoAnne.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Collins-McKee-Stone, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm with Reverend Allen Jackson officiating.
Entombment will follow at 2:00 pm in Mountain View Memorial Park, 5970 Grassy Hill Road, Boones Mill, VA with Reverend Joseph Dillon officiating.
The family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Fieldale Baptist Church, 175 Church Hill Road, Fieldale, VA 24089.
