Irene was born November 22, 1923 in Patrick Co., to the late Albert M. and Lelia Plaster Fulcher. She was a graduate of Bassett High School; was known for making drapes and quilting items for many people in the community. She was also the babysitter for many children of the neighborhood, family and close friends. Irene was the treasurer of both Oak Level Ladies Auxiliary and Busy Bee Gardening Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Bryant “Cadillac” Hudson; her son-in-law, James Yale; 3 sisters, Lillian Merchant, Edith Shively and Sue Thompson; 1 brother, James Fulcher; 1 niece, Donna Semones and 1 nephew, Roger Shively.
Surviving is her daughter, Ann Hudson Yale of Bassett; 2 sisters, Marie Moran of Bassett and Iris Perry of Martinsville; 2 grandchildren, Gwendolyn (Gwen) Yale Cox and Stephanie Yale Turner; 2 great grandchildren, Hayleigh Brooke Turner and Nathan Kyle Turner and 19 nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Friday 6 pm to 8 pm at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Drive, Bassett. Funeral services will be Saturday 2 pm at the funeral home with Mr. Lane Perry, officiating. Burial to follow in Henry Memorial Park.
A special thanks to family friends, Herman and Darlene Hale for always being there when needed and to her new friend, Donna Pilson, for helping take care of her these last few weeks.
