Edward Jackson Myers, age 75 of Martinsville, Virginia, died on December 16, 2018. Mr. Myers was born on June 26, 1943 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Dewey Clarence Myers and the late Goldie May Bays Myers. His early career in the newspaper business included The Martinsville Bulletin, Bull Mountain Bugle, Tidewater Publications, and was Editor of The Westmoreland News in Montross, VA. He contributed many articles to Virginia Wildlife and was Owner/Editor of Virginia Outdoors finally settling in Martinsville, VA and retiring from his small business Masterline. Edward enjoyed writing books, articles and photography. He was a Civil War relic hunter, collector, and historian. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Nester Myers, one sister, Shirley Martin and one brother, Vernon Myers. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Myers-Owen and husband, Adam Owen, two sisters, Barbara Surratt and Betty Parnell, one brother, Dorse Myers and wife, Velda, two grandchildren, Asheton Owen and Addison Owen. Also, a special friend, John Iten.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Bassett, Virginia with Military Honors.
