. Woodrow Turner, 89, of 1580 Horseshoe Point, Road, Henry, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Franklin Health Care in Rocky Mount. He was born in Henry on January 29, 1924 to the late George H. Turner and Lilly Hester Hagood Turner. Woodrow served in the United States Army during WWII, Woodrow was a self employed professional painting contractor. He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and member of the church Choir. He was a member of the Henry Rotary and former member and served as President of the P.T. A.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Eunice Prillaman Turner, daughter, Denise Turner Moore, and a brother, Carlton Turner.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Dana Turner Dingell and husband, Jim of Oak Hill, two sisters, Sharlene Slate of Collinsville and Ola T. Laxton of West Virginia, brother, Paul Turner and three grandchildren, Jason Frye, Trevor Frye and James Dingell III.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at New Vision Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Reynolds officiating, interment will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery in Henry. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
