Thomas Paul “Tom” Phillips, 69, of Bartonville, passed away on Monday, July 22,2024 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on May 4, 1955 in Peoria, the son of John Edward Phillips and Angelica Louise (Hackett) Phillips.
Tom is survived by his three siblings, Carol (Dennis) Doyle of Dunlap, Michael Phillips of Bartonville and Debbie (Carl) Williams of Peoria; 11 nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom was a graduate of Limestone High School and Western Illinois University. He moved to California and initially worked with his brother, Mike, at Surfside Hot Tubs, and then went on to work for Pentair Pool Equipment and Manufacturer. There he used his talent for writing to create marketing and product information articles that were published in pool industry magazines. Tom also went on to develop one of the top-selling pool heaters in the nation.
Tom was kind, funny, and loved his parents and family very much. Tom loved animals and had many pets over his lifetime. While in high school, Tom appeared in a national Exxon Oil commercial and earned entrance to the Screen Actors Guild. He had the opportunity to be in several movies, television shows and commercials that created many memories and stories that he enjoyed sharing with friends and family. He had many, many friends from coast to coast, with whom he shared his love of sports and music. Tom loved playing drums and was a member of several bands over the years. His most recent band was the Rock Fossils.
Tom’s visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 pm. His inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund or the National Kidney Foundation.
