He was born June 4, 1963 in Peoria to Al and Ida J. (Swango) Stewart. He married Marilyn Jackson on September 27, 1982 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Rachel (David) Billingsly of Geneseo, IL, Rodney (Kim) Stewart, Jr of Murfreesboro, TN, and David Stewart of Peoria; two grandchildren, Nathan and Hannah Billingsly; two brothers, Rick Stewart and Greg Stewart; and sister, Linda Markham.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rod worked at the Maytag refrigerator factory in Galesburg for many years until it closed. He then became an over the road truck driver with Carlson Trucking of Galesburg and also Ten Roads Trucking. The truck driving fed his passion for travel.
Rod also loved fishing and was a member of the Hanna City Sportsmans Club. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and riding motorcycles.
Most of all, Rod loved his family and friends and they will cherish the memories of good times together.
Cremation has been accorded by Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel.
