Paulette was born in Peoria, IL to Charles and Donna (Walburg) Shempf. She married Gary Hand on October 8, 1966 in Palmyra, MO. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Christina (Dana) Fahnstrom of Mapleton and Jeanette (Terry) Beckman of Bartonville; five grandchildren, Ellen (Rodney Myers) Fahnstrom of Lewistown, Haley (Anthony) Naylor of Pekin, Nicholas (Trisha) Beckman, Emily (Seth) Lindsey, and Matthew (Liv) Beckman all of Bartonville, nine great grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Lisa) Schempf Jr of Bartonville; two nieces, Holly Shempf and Angela Stevenson; and one nephew, Charles Shempf III.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edward Shempf and one sister, Charlette Hancock.
Paulette was the co-owner of Hand Painting and Wall Coverings for over 15 years before retiring. She was a member the Bartonville American Legion Post 979, the Elks Lodge # 1463 in Deland, FL. and was of the Catholic Faith.
Paulette was an avid reader, who enjoyed golfing, crocheting, and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and "Gma".
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. A funeral service will be at noon on Saturday, April 1, 2023, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Father Charles Klamut will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Kingston Mines cemetery.
