Gary Wayne Westhafer, 77, of Glasford, formerly of Pekin, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Carle Health - Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born on September 21, 1947 in Greene County, Indiana, a son of Wilbert Westhafer and Mildred (Kinnamon) Westhafer. Gary married Kathy J. Hill on September 2, 1967 in Glasford.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy. He is also survived by his two children, Julie Beeney (Jeff Warren) of Pekin and Jason Westhafer (Sandy Hill) of Pekin; two granddaughters, Jessica (Dylan) Hurt of Kentucky and Whitney (Christian) Ehrat of Pekin; one adopted granddaughter, Lilyanna; and seven great-grandchildren, Ayden Sullivan, Luna Sullivan, Weston Ehrat, Wyatt Ehrat, Lyla Ehrat, Beau Hurt and Luke Hurt. Also surviving are four brothers and three sisters.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Gary was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, and playing bags with his friends. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family. His kids and grandkids were all very special to him, but his great grandchildren held the shining star in Poppys eyes.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Gary was a member of the Verlin M. Showalter Lodge #1172 A.F. & A.M., Lancaster Lodge #106 A.F. & A.M., Joseph Robbins Lodge #970 A.F. & A.M. and the Limestone American Legion Post #979.
Gary's funeral service will be at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel followed by a masonic service and military honors. His visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm also on Monday at the funeral chapel. Cremation will be accorded following his service.
