She was born September 5, 1945 in Spring Valley, IL to Bernard H. and Selma V. (Barnes) Bergantz and grew up in Henry.
Dorothy first married Marion Jester in 1965 and together they had a daughter, Rhonda (Jon) Jester Morris of Bartonville. In 1975 she married Roger Kortemeier and became step-mother to Richard Kortemeier and Christopher (Cindy Burnside) Kortemeier both of Bartonville. She is also survived by one sister, Janet Mavetz of Peoria, seven grandchildren: Brandon (Brittany) Morris, Brittany (Kord) Kirkpatrick, Zachary (Michelle) Kortemeier, Alyssa Kortemeier, Ashley (Jake) Wolters, Danielle (Casey) Eccles, Robyn Kortemeier, four great-grandchildren: Easton, Brysen Wolters, Macie Hill, Brooks Morris, Eden Kirkpatrick who is due in March, and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy worked for 32 years for Caterpillar Tractor in the Finance Department, retiring in 2007. However, she continued finance work as stewardship deacon in her church home Living Waters Lutheran Church.
Dorothy’s friend Mimi introduced her to drill team, tap, ballet, acrobat and toe dancing and in later year’s card making which was often how she spent her spare time. Many hand-made cards have been sent to family and friends over the years.
Several winters were spent in Port Aransas, TX, where she enjoyed walks on the beach and collecting shells.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm followed by a memorial service at 12 pm at Living Waters Church in Peoria.
Burial will be in St John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Bartonville at a later date.
