Arlene was born May 3, 1929 in Peoria, IL to Harry and Juanita Wright. Arlene married Edward J. Burns on November 1, 1947 and shared 63 years of marriage before Ed passed in 2010.
Arlene is survived by 10 children: John (Dodie) Burns of Peoria, Dennis Burns of Manito, IL, Patrice Aaires of Glendale, CA, Bonnie Donley of Delavan, IL, Sharon Burns of Castle Rock, CO, Deb (Darin) Bloomfield of Wyoming, IL, Raymond (Tania) Burns of Palm Bay, FL, Allen (Sally) Burns of Holland, MI, Jeanette Burns of Peoria Heights, IL, Ron (Molly) Burns of Brimfield, IL, thirty-one grandchildren, over forty great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Edward Jr, infant son Robert Lee, infant daughter, Ann Marie, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
As a teen, Arlene worked on a line at Hiram Walker’s and as an elevator operator at Hotel Pere Marquette which she truly enjoyed. Arlene was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and their Ladies Club where she gave graciously of her time and talents. She loved spending time with her family cooking wonderful meals and baking delicious desserts. She was a self-made professional seamstress with amazing talent. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do and her creations were of excellent quality.
She enjoyed making clothes for her family and taking on many other projects mending and repairing for countless others. She also loved helping Ed create and paint many decorative and fun wood projects which all the children and grandchildren truly cherished.
Visitation will be held 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, 1203 West Garfield Ave. in Bartonville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Jeremy Freehill for Arlene at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with visitation prior to the Mass from 9:00 am until 9:45 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Ann's Parish Hall.
