William Duke Phelps

William "Bill" Duke Phelps, known affectionately as "Captain Yo" sailed into eternity on June 3, 2024, surrounded by his family and lifelong friend Irene Walker Wright. Born on June 14, 1951, Bill's life was a symphony of laughter, music, and cherished connections.

Bill's legacy is woven into the hearts of his beloved spouse, Rebecca Lynn Phelps, and his treasured daughters, Catherine Glosson, Mary Morrison, and Dana Phelps. His warmth extended to his adoring sisters, Sheila Phelps Inderbitzen and Rae Dowdy, and a large network of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and cherished family members in North Carolina.

In his wallet, he safeguarded a ticket stub from their first date, a testament to their enduring romance.

Though the family acknowledges the tardiness of this notification, they humorously recognize their shared trait with Bill, whose punctuality was notoriously lacking.
