Philip Eugene Fitts, 59, passed away on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021, after a difficult battle with Covid. Although much shorter than anyone could have anticipated, Phil enjoyed a life full of unforgettable experiences.
He was born on March 21, 1962, to Missionary parents, Marvin and Jean Fitts, in Lima, Peru. He spent most of his childhood along with his brother, Andrew Fitts (Seattle, WA.) and Janean Cardenas (Xenia, OH.) growing up in South America and attending school in Ecuador. The Fitts family moved back to the United States in 1978 where Philip attended Elliston Baptist Academy graduating in 1980.
In 1983, Phil married the love of his life, Lisa Gravitt. Together they raised their loving family — daughter Jenny and son Drew — in Memphis, where they lived for over 30 years. Phil and Lisa moved to the Chattanooga, TN/North Georgia area in 2018.
Phil was always the life of the party and had a larger-than-life personality. He was a “Biker”, and his Harley was his prized possession. He loved music, concerts, festivals, and his Tennessee Volunteers.
His family was the other most precious thing in his life. Phil was a protective husband and father and always made sure his family was taken care of first.
Phil is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lisa Gravitt Fitts (Sugar Valley, GA.), his children Jenny Folsom (Williamsburg, NM) and Drew Fitts (Chattanooga, TN), his brother Andrew Fitts (Seattle, WA) and sister Janean (Edgar) Cardenas (Xenia, OH), many nieces and nephews: Christina, Jessica, and Teresa Cardenas, LaShay Proper (Steven), Adam and Nelson Gravitt, Easton and Tanner Ray, Tristan Avent, and Landon and Peyton Brown, and great nieces and nephews: Ally Mae, Arabella, Boyd, and Benjamin.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Eugene and Jean Carlisle Fitts.
The service will be held at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 North Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133, on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. and service will follow at 10:00 a.m. There will be a small reception there after the service.
