She was born and raised and lived her life in Memphis, TN. She graduated from Oakhaven High School. She worked for Memphis Consumer Credit, TransUnion LLC and ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where she retired.
Nicki was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Huey; her father, Doug Huey; her sister, Micki Cothern; and second mother, Smith Ann Lee.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Erik Tankersley (Tammy); her bonus sons, Jay Campbell (Wanda), Mark Ravi and Tim Orr (Deidre); her sisters, Vicki Williams (Bob), Dorothy Bruce and Sondra Newsom (Bill); her nieces, Christi Boone (Steven) and Wendy Jackson (Morgan); her nephews, Robbie Williams (Stacey), Richard Walker (Amy) and Duane Smith; a wide circle of great nieces and nephews and her four grandkitties Jethro “Fatboy”, Ellie, Roscoe and Millie.
Nicki loved her family and friends dearly and absolutely loved to laugh with them. Her bright personality had a lasting impact on everyone she would interact with.
Because of Nicki’s love for the children at St. Jude and the amazing work that is done there, she has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A gathering of family and friends for Nicki will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a graveside service at 12:00 PM.
