Mary Ethel Hayes

She was born to the late Tom and Eula Carter on February 11, 1932 in Olive Branch, Mississippi. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by the love her life for 63 years, Herman Hayes; her great-grandson, Jacob Dlouhy; and her siblings, Wallace “Buddy” Carter, Jr., Annie Beverly, Francis Broadway, and Peggy Childress.

She graduated from Hernando High School. Mary did in home childcare for 45 years. She enjoyed gardening, taking walks with Herman around the neighborhood, word search puzzles, and game time with her friends.

Mary is survived by her children, Lavon Hayes (Melanie), Debbie Hudspeth (Robert); grandchildren, Justin Hudspeth, Elise Dloughy (Stephen), Courtney Hammerstone (Brian), Lorrie Lamberth (Nathan); great-grandchildren, Kenzlee Hantack, Owen Dloughy, Lucas Lamberth; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 9:00am to 10am on Wednesday, July 17 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will follow at 10:00am.
