God called his child, Julia Jewel Fox Edwards, to her heavenly home on Friday, July 15, 2016. She was 86 years old. Julia was born in the Bending Chestnut community of Williamson County, TN to Thomas Collie Fox, Sr. and Jewell Warf Fox. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, J.W. Edwards, her parents, her brother Gilbert Fox, and sisters Mavis Fox Davis, Elise Fox Baker, and Margaret Fox Jones.
Julia is survived by her children Terry Edwards (Barbara), Gary Edwards (Linda), David Edwards (Taryn) and Cheryl Edwards, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Collie Fox, Jr., and sisters Geraldine Fox Anderson and Mary Fox Davis. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who always held a special place in her heart.
Julia loved growing up in the Bending Chestnut community. She graduated in 1948 from Hillsboro High School located in Hillsboro/Leipers Fork in Williamson County. Later that same year she married her childhood sweetheart, J.W. J.W.’s career brought their family to Memphis in 1963. She and J.W were charter members of St. Timothy United Methodist Church where they were both active volunteers. Julia was a member of the Wesley Fellowship Class and United Methodist Women. She has many dear and lifelong friends from her years at St. Timothy. Family and church were her priorities.
As Julia’s health declined over the last four years she needed additional attention and care. Her family thanks our sweet friend, Diana Borgmier and the caring staff of nurses and CNAs at King’s Daughters and Sons of Bartlett for their care and devotion. A special appreciation goes to Charlotte White, Julia’s friend of over 40 years for her faithful attention and friendship. Julia loved Charlotte like another daughter and always looked forward to their time together.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 18 at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN. Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 19, at Greenbrier Cemetery at Greenbrier Methodist Church in Williamson County, TN. Online condolences may be expressed at www.memphisfuneralhome.net.
