Fred Edward Walker, age 88, died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his home in Germantown, TN. He was born in 1928 in Greene County, Tennessee to Charlie J. Walker and Lula Lucinda Evans, and was the sibling of Mabel Jenkins, Zelma Owens, Earl Walker, Bill Walker, JC Walker, Jean Hayes, Charles Walker, Dee Walker, Betty Griffin and Flo Eichelberger. He graduated from Norris High School in 1948, and served as Corporal in the U.S. Army, Ordnance division from 1950-52. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1956. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann Walker; son, Dirk and his wife, Kathy; daughter, Lee Ann and her husband Jorge Sarvide; brother, JC and his wife Betty; four grandchildren, Hollis and her husband Nick Johnson, Aaron and his wife Katelyn, Adrian and her husband Kyle Donnelly, and Alexander Sarvide; four great-grandchildren, June, Ellis, Aster and Hayes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbors. He was an active member of the Germantown Church of Christ, and served as deacon in three other congregations. He is a former Jaycee and Lions Club member. He co-founded and served as president of Fiberglass Products & Engineering Company for over 25 years with his long-time friend and business partner David S. Ward. He was an avid golfer, a resourceful handyman, and enjoyed traveling with family. He was encouraging, kind, and patient to all who knew him, and known for his integrity, straightforwardness, commitment and generosity. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 2:00 pm at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN with Dave Phillips officiating, and burial to follow. The Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, June 12 at the same location. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to the Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust or the Germantown Church of Christ.
