Debbie Simpson

From the moment she was born, Debbie instantly was a light that people gravitated towards. She loved life and lived vibrantly as a child, bringing endless joy to her older siblings, her parents, and everyone with whom she came into contact. That light only grew more complete and more magnetic when she accepted Christ into her life and chose to follow him above all else in her early teens.

In 1978, Debbie married her lifelong love, Kevin Lewis Simpson, and they began their life together. Debbie always openly shared that her two greatest accomplishments in life were raising four children who love the Lord and staying married for over 40 years. Debbie was also blessed with seeing 12 grandchildren be born into this world. Along with those two central accomplishments, she was a continual giver to her outside community. That is one of the many reasons she was such a fantastic friend and mother.

Debbie’s battle with cancer began in 2007. From the first moment she realized what her road ahead would look like, she became a warrior. She fiercely fought, even to the last second of her life here on Earth. She was able to fight the good fight because she knew her ultimate victory had already been won through Jesus Christ. She perfectly balanced courage and trust in God throughout her entire journey.

Mom, we are so proud of you. As your children and grandchildren, we were able to learn how to live a life fully devoted to Christ. We were also able to see how a person can embody utter joy in the most difficult of circumstances. Although our hearts break from your absence, we know we will see you soon. We love you, Mama.

A visitation for Debbie will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A second visitation will be Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Independent Presbyterian Church, 4738 Walnut Grove Rd, Memphis, TN 3811 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM.
