Carol Ida Percefull Morris, died peacefully at home with family the evening of January 5, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Morris; her sisters, Virginia Ann McCarley Stapleton and Mary Jane Percefull Stecks; and parents, (Lt. Col. ret.) George E. Percefull, Lonoke, Ark., and Virginia L. Hubbard Percefull, Oxford, Md. Born in Great Neck, New York, June 6, 1940, Carol was the great-great-granddaughter of the Hicks and Percefull pioneer families of Lonoke County, Arkansas. When her father retired from the US Air Force in 1954, they finally settled in Lonoke, Arkansas (his birthplace and the town her ancestors founded). Carol was a Lonoke High School Jackrabbit. After graduating in 1958, she spent some time as a Kappa Delta at the University of Florida in Gainesville prior to marrying.
Carol was a kind woman with an adventurous spirit. She loved knowledge and was an avid reader. She loved travel, the arts, hiking, fishing, camping, spelunking, and good food.
She is survived by her brother, George E. Percefull; daughters, Donna Hart Wilding and Leslie Auld Pappas; stepdaughters, Bobbi Lynn Hershey Grant, Kelli Morris Childers, Terri Morris McKown, and stepson, Tony Morris.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Lonoke Public School District 401 W. Holly St. , Lonoke, AR 72086 Attn: Tonya Weaver, Lonoke County Museum, or the American Cancer Society’s Harrah’s Hope Lodge in Memphis, Tennessee. Arrangements are under the direction of Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens.
