Betty (Sue) French, age 89, of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away July 5, 2023. Betty was born on May 6, 1934, in Paris, Tennessee, to Elvis and Mary Evans. She graduated from Springville High School as valedictorian. Betty married S.C. French in 1962 and moved to the Chicago area. She worked for many years in medical records at LaGrange Memorial Hospital, ending her career as supervisor of medical transcription. She and S.C. enjoyed a long retirement beginning in 1987. They spent their time serving their church and enjoying their family, friends and pets. They were long-time members of the Church of Christ, for many years at Brownsville Road and then at Oliver Creek where the church later moved.
Betty is preceded in death by husband, S.C., father and mother, Elvis and Mary Evans, two sisters, Elaine (Joe) Clary and Evon (Leonard) Smith, a brother, Warren (Shirley) Evans, and brother-in-law Dan Doran. She is survived by daughter, Debbie French, sister, Kathy (John) Roberts and sister-in-law, Sue Doran.
Services will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Rd., Bartlett, Tennessee. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm, with the funeral at 2:00 pm and the burial immediately following.
