Annie Louise Reed passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 18, 2023 at the age of 89. Ann was fondly know as Grandmother, Aunt Ann, and Mrs. Ann to her family and friends. Ann graduated from Memphis Tech High in 1952. She married her late husband Don Reed on June 6, 1952. Ann and Don began to create their family, with the birth of their first daughter Donna Ann, followed by Kathie Denise, and their son Donald Robert, Jr. Ann had many passions throughout her life in addition to her family, which included teaching preschool, swimming lessons, crossing guard, and shopping. Ann was instrumental in the founding of the first Catholic Preschool at Blessed Sacrament in Memphis. The kitchen was the heart of her home, where she created many delicious memories, including her award- winning chocolate pie. After retiring on the Tennessee River, Ann was an active member of St. Regina Catholic Church in Parsons, TN and a co-founder of the St. Regina Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser. Always the teacher, she enjoyed her time reading to children at the Parsons Library and being an active member of the Parsons Book Club. In her free time she enjoyed a good book, a cold Coke, and fine dark chocolate, while surrounded by her flowers and hummingbirds.
Ann is preceded in death by her love of 67 years, Don Reed, and daughter Donna Ann Kline.
Ann’s legacy is carried on by her family; daughter Kathie Hughes; son Donald Robert Reed, Jr.; son in law Steve L. Kline; grandchildren David (Angie) Reed and children Dalton, Dustin, Jessica, Josh, Julianne; Donald (Bella) Kline, and children Brittney, Kristina, Taylor; Steve (Misty) Kline, and children Abby, Madeline, Brianna, Tristen, Lukah, Jonah; Nichole (Josh) Lewis and their sons Ethan and Landon; sister Gail Tidwell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She made friends everywhere she went, was loved by many and will be remembered by all.
