It is with deep sorrow we announce that after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers, Yvette Mahar passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018, at the age of 84.Born in Lac Pelletier Saskatchewan, Yvette lived most of her life in the Barrhead and Pickardville areas where she eagerly embraced neighbours as friends and enjoyed volunteering wherever she could throughout many communities over the years. Her first love and devotion was always to her children and grandchildren. She had many talents and found joy in doing all kinds of activities but her love of music was one thing she was able to enjoy right up until her last days. She is survived by her children: Alice (Len) Szybunka of Cherhill,AB; Rosane (Neil) Perry of Penticton, BC; Joanne (Wayne) Buckland of Falkland, BC and Dan Mahar of Barrhead. Daughter-in-law Vi Mahar. 12 grandchildren : Diane (August ) Reich, Linda (Gary) DeJong, Matthew (Nancy) Mahar, Crystal Szybunka, Neil Szybunka, Chad Schmaus, Noland Schmaus, Amy Beacome, Jessica Hindman, Levi Mahar and Mitchel Mahar. She also leaves 15 Great Grandchildren. One sister Dolorese Senecal of St. Paul AB , one brother Michel Chenard of San Diego, CA and sister-in-law Paulette Chenard of Edmonton,AB and Trudy Maher of Barrhead, AB. She will also be missed, but fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Yvette was predeceased by her son Vern Mahar in 2001, granddaughter Amber Hindman in 2017, son-in-law Lester Schmaus in 1984 and the father of her children, Joe Mahar in 2013. Born the 10th child of eleven, Yvette was also predeceased by her parents Paul and Laurentia Chenard; five brothers: Gérard, Laurent, Jean-Paul, Gilbert, Roger and three sisters: Aline Carriere, Denise Semister and Alice Lambert; nephew Dennis Chenard. In keeping with her wishes, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date when Yvette will return home to be laid to rest with her parents in Lac Pelletier Saskatchewan.
