George Louis Bailey, III

George Louis Bailey, III, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. He was the beloved father of George Louis Bailey IV, Joshua Thomas Bailey and Kelly Engle; former husband of Beverly Polonsky; loving brother of Ilsa Bailey, Steve Bailey, John Bailey and the late Doris Bailey-Westfall; cherished uncle of Keith Garrett, Elizabeth Garrett, Lisa Bailey and was a great uncle of many. George is also survived by his dear friend Kathy Sikes for over 30 years, Eric Sikes and other extended family and friends.

George was a devoted and hardworking man whose life was defined by his passion for his family, music, and his community. As a carpenter for most of his career, he took great pride in his craft, always striving to create with precision and care. Outside of work, George had a deep love for rock music, playing bass, drums, and 12-string guitar in a band with friends, where his musical spirit and camaraderie shone through. A proud Army veteran, he had a particular fascination with World War II history, often sharing his knowledge and stories with those around him. George's quick wit and persuasive nature made him a master of getting things done — he could talk almost anyone into anything, all while maintaining a sense of humor that made him easy to love. His passion for football was equally strong, both as a former player at City College and later as a coach in his community. He was a motivating and dedicated coach who inspired his players to push themselves beyond what they thought possible, watching with pride as many of them earned scholarships and went on to further their education. Above all, George was a family man, deeply committed to the well-being and success of those he loved, leaving a lasting legacy through the lives he touched.

Relative and friends are invited to gather at the Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home Inc., 3631 Falls Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21211 on Sunday November 24, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
