Yolanda Hernandez Benavidez

Yolanda Hernandez Benavidez, 81, passed away in Bakersfield, California. Yolanda was born to Carmen Rendon Hernandez and Luis Perez Hernandez in Hampton, Mississippi. Yolanda is survived by her children Humberto “Reno” Benavidez, Rodger “Chiky” (Lisa) Benavidez and Maria “Magda” Benavidez Pierce, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as extended family. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Humberto “Chumbe” Benavidez and son Alex Benavidez.

Although Yolanda was born in Mississippi, she was raised in Robstown, Texas. And, as a young adult moved to the Bakersfield area where she remained. Yolanda worked in farm labor more than thirty years. She loved to cook for family and friends and absolutely loved playing bingo. All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the joy of her life and always put a smile on her face.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

A visitation for Yolanda will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, March 10, 2023 at 9:00 AM at St Philip the Apostle Church, 7100 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93309. A graveside service will follow Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
