Valentin "Val" Alvarez, Jr., at the age of 43, was called home to our Lord on August 17, 2021. He was born on March 15,1978 in Bakersfield, California to Valentin Alvarez and Margarita Alvarez. He is preceded in death by Concepcion Alvarez, Torubio Alvarez and Joseph Velasco. Val is survived by his loving wife, Monica Alvarez, his eldest son Tyler V. Alvarez (24), eldest daughter, Josilynn R. Alvarez (17), youngest son Ryan J. Alvarez (15), his “baby “ Leila C. Alvarez (9), in-laws Teresa Gonzales, Rob Gonzales and Ramon Galvan and Francine Galvan; and grandmother Sally Velasco, only sibling Amanda Abrica; sister-in-laws, Teresa Perez and Kristin Gonzales and brother-in-laws, Alvaro Perez, Ray Galvan, Jr., and Robbie Clark Gonzales; nephew Nathan Abrica, Josue Galvan, Paulo Galvan; nieces, Natasha Abrica, Chloe Perez, Brielle Perez and Godchildren Johnny Galvan, Alexa Leal, Cristian Perez, and Ethan Perez.
Val graduated from Arvin High School in 1996. He grew up in Lamont, California until his early 20’s when he purchased his first home on Sunset Ave in Bakersfield, California. Val was a very hard worker, and a jack of all trades. His first job began at Home Depot where was he promoted to management, and then departed to start his own business, “The Finishing Touch.” Later he became a pipe finisher welder, a trade he fell in love with. Val loved telling everyone he was a, “good oh country boy." And he often shared stories about him playing as a lefty pitcher in baseball; bragged about how many trophies he won and the many fishing, and hunting trips he made with his Dad. He also loved riding dirt bikes and crusing his 1982 CJ 5 Brown Jeep.
Growing up living at grandma and grandpa Alvarez' house, he was very loved and spoiled with most of his childhood being spent at the Lamont Flower Shop. He had immense love for his grandmother Concepcion; his wishes were to be laid to rest alongside her - a wish that was granted. Val was a very loving, caring person to everyone he met especially his pets. Val was a huge animal lover! He had many dogs, cats, birds, pigs, and lizards. To know him was to love him and he was everyones best friend, brother, coach, Niño, and favorite coworker. As he would always say, he was the life of the party.
His greatest joy in life was being a loving husband, father and good friend. He loved cooking and barbequing for family and friends - even the neighbors. You would always be spoiled at his home and leave with a, "to-go" plate. He took his kids camping, fishing, hunting, and taught them baseball, all while listening to his country music. His favorite quote, “All in Win$” was a saying he told his children before every game and it's how he chose to view life.
